The MU Police Department offers a variety of programs and presentations free of charge to the campus community. While no program can prevent all crimes, education is essential to making safe and responsible decisions. These are only a few of the courses we offer, which we are willing to tailor to meet your needs.
When requesting a program/presentation, please give us a two-week notice. NOTE: April and October are the busiest months for programs/presentations on campus. We will do our best to accommodate your request. All programs/presentations are free.

This highly adaptable program develops awareness and promotes safe living by focusing on tips and techniques to reduce the likelihood of an attack, self-defense theory, and some basic information on laws. This program can be adapted to cover violence in the workplace and safety for particular groups. The attack you will always win is the one with which you are never involved.

Drug Awareness
MUPD offers three programs on drug awareness:
- Program to assist Community Advisors by informing them what is needed to make a drug arrest and the valuable role they play in helping the campus combat drugs. A drug burn is also done to allow CA’s the opportunity to identify marijuana by sight and smell, as well as relevant paraphernalia.
- General presentation to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and what each person can do to help combat the problem.
- Program focused on predatory drugs, which are used to render a person passive, submissive or unable to resist sexual advances or assault. The program will discuss the characteristics and effects of predatory drugs, and tips to avoid unknowingly consuming these drugs.
Homeland security and terrorism
The MU Police Department works with numerous law enforcement agencies to combat terrorism and related crimes in our service area. It is essential that the community support these efforts by reporting suspicious activity that may be related to terrorism. Any suspicious person or incident believed to be related to terrorist activity can be reported to Major Scott Richardson by email or by calling (573) 884-0154. Call 911 or (573) 882-7201 for emergencies. An anonymous tips can be sent via the silent witness:
