Here at MUPD, we have our own on-site communications center. We maintain at least two operators staffed 24/7. As a Safety Communications Operator, you’ll be responsible for communicating with our patrol officers, security, and campus safety officers, as well as general phone calls that come to the department.
All of our Safety Communications Operators must be capable of operating the required computer software as well as obtain certification in the Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) and The Association of Public Communication Officials (APCO). Operators receive continuing training to ensure they remain in compliance with requirements.
Professionalism is extremely important in this position. Safety Communications Operators are often the first contact our community members have with the MUPD. It’s essential for our Operators to be able to maintain a calm demeanor and professionalism through high-stress situations in order to ensure the safety of all patrol personnel.
