Information on MU Alert Shots Fired Notification:

On June 7, around 3:32 p.m., the MU Alert system was activated when MUPD received a "shots fired" call on campus. Officers arriving on the scene at the Plaza 900 loading dock (900 Virginia Ave.) found a vendor, Michael Stout, with a gunshot wound in his leg. Stout was on campus demonstrating a smoothie machine. While in his vehicle on campus, Stout showed his firearm to a friend and accidently fired a round into his left leg.

Stout, who is not a university employee or student, was transported to University Hospital for medical attention.

An all clear message was sent around 3:39 p.m. The University Police Department reminds you to refer to MU Alert when emergency messages go out for the most up to date information.
