MUPD Arrest Student for Making Threat:

At approximately 7:54 p.m., Monday, Dec. 14, University of Missouri Police Department officers arrested Nathan Benz for making a terrorist threat (Revised Missouri Statute 574.115). Benz initially made a threat on Yik Yak. MUPD immediately began investigating the threat, and a search warrant was served to Yik Yak to identify Benz.

“Safety is our No. 1 priority, and we will not tolerate threats to the peace of our campus,” MUPD Chief Doug Schwandt said. “This is the second threat that we have investigated on Yik Yak in the past two months that has resulted in an arrest.”

Additional information cannot be released due to the investigative nature of the report.

Nathan Benz
Date of Birth: 04/24/1997
Benz is a University of Missouri student.

Benz was transported to the Boone County Jail where he was left in lieu of $4,500 bond.
