Statement on Robbery Arrest:

Around 5:26 p.m., May 6, the University of Missouri Police Department arrested Treshaun D. Butner for Robbery in the Second Degree (Revised Missouri Statute 569.030), which is a class B felony. The robbery was reported to MU Police on Tuesday, May 5, which had occurred near the sand volleyball courts, by Hawthorne Hall.

While processing Butner, MUPD officers discovered one pill of Xanax in his possession. He did not have a prescription for the drug and was charged with possession of a controlled substance other than less than 35 grams of marijuana (Revised Missouri Statute 195.202).

"We would like to thank the public for their help in identifying this suspect," MU Chief of Police Doug Schwandt said. "Through the quick actions of our officers and the cooperation of witnesses, we were able to identify the individual and apprehend him quickly. We continue to work diligently to keep our campus safe and secure for our staff, faculty, students and guests."

Butner was transported to the Boone County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $4,500 bond for possession of the controlled substance. An additional bond will be set on the second degree robbery charge.
