Update - Arrest Made in Reported Sexual Misconduct Case

At approximately 5:25 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, University of Missouri Police arrested James D. Bennett for three counts of RSMO 566.093 Sexual misconduct, first degree and one count RSMO 195.233 Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. The arrest occurred near the intersection of Hitt Street and Paquin Street when an officer found Bennett in a vehicle, a 2016 VW Passat, black in color, MO registration AJ4H4J.

Bennett is not an MU student and was transported to Boone County Jail where he was left in lieu of $2,000 bond.

After the original release was sent out, MUPD received additional reports about the suspect. The University Police Department would like to thank the community for providing additional information. Please remember to call the department when you witness a crime or something suspicious. Please do not e-mail the department with crimes as email accounts are not monitored 24/7.  Working together we can continue to make the campus a safer place.
